WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said that it isn’t just bizarre that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton claims she couldn’t remember a big letter “C” meant a document is classified, it’s an obvious lie.
Clinton’s claimed ignorance was revealed in the FBI’s notes on the investigation of her handling of sensitive documents while at the State Department.
“After reviewing an email dated April 9, 2012, with subject line ‘Call to President Banda,’ CLINTON stated she did not remember the email specifically,” the FBI’s notes say. “When asked what the parenthetical ‘C’ meant before a paragraph within the captioned email, CLINTON stated she did not know and could only speculate it was referencing paragraphs marked in alphabetical order. CLINTON could not say for sure if the parenthetical ‘C’ is used for portion marking classified documents.”
Assange, who has seen and leaked plenty of documents bearing the mark, said any government official would know what it means.
“Hillary Clinton has said she can’t remember what a ‘c’ in brackets stands for,” he said on Fox. “Everyone in positions of government and in WikiLeaks knows it stands for classified, confidential.”
He then provided proof that Clinton herself had used the mark by holding up an email with Clinton’s signature and a classified mark that she included.
“We have thousands of examples where she herself has used the ‘c’ in brackets and signed it off,” he said. “And more than 22,000 examples where she has received cables from others with this ‘C’ in brackets.”
According to Assange, Americans should be more worried about the FBI leadership’s willingness to go along with Clinton’s lies.
“It’s absolutely incredible for Clinton to lie, she is lying, about not knowing what that is, but it’s disturbing that James Comey goes along with that game,” he said.
