MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski attacked the Trump administration Monday, saying the current president is leading the nation to a “low point in American history.”
Brzezinski’s remarks came during a conversation with Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough about the White House’s claims that President Barack Obama wiretapped President Donald Trump ahead of the 2016 election.
Of the still unverified claims, Brzezinski ranted:
There is a lot of reporting I have behind the scenes that Reince Priebus is flailing, to say the least, at his job…But I also don’t understand why the former head of Breitbart appears to be handing the President some fake news and the President is just rifting on it wildly with no sense that he is President of the United States, no respect for the office, and calling a former President of the United States unbelievable names. And we are at a low point in American history and I don’t know how anybody can defend this President, even if it’s their job. Like you’ve got to have a job after this. You’ve got to look in the mirror after this. Sarah Huckabee or whoever is going to speak out next. You have to look in the mirror and think about this country after this is over. You need to think of the end game here, because there is one at the rate we are going.
Scarborough also skewered the president, saying: “Cozying up to Russia is not conservative. Putting out a budget that will blow an absolute hole in the national debt, another $10 trillion, is not conservative.”
The pair suggested that Trump’s explosive allegations against the Obama administration are part of an effort to deflect from a larger controversy “probably pertaining to Russia.”
Brzezinski concluded:” I had hope and an open mind and I have lost hope completely and my mind is closed. This presidency is fake and failed.”
