My parents live in Conroe (north side). They are at 20 inches and counting. They are better off than most because there is a drainage ditch behind their house, but it is quickly filling up. My aunt and uncle are in clear lake (southeast side), which is getting pounded. Last I saw they had over 30 inches of rain. Haven’t heard today, but the water was creeping toward the doors last night, though I don’t think water has entered the house yet. Tornadoes last night. They are sleeping in shifts so they can watch the water level. Their yard and driveway are submerged. They’re prepared to retreat to the attic and hack their way onto the roof if necessary. It’s not good down there and will only get worse. We’re going to have something akin to the Louisiana floods from last summer, but I think on a bigger scale. This is going to be the biggest humanitarian crisis in the US since Katrina. Ben Taub, the biggest hospital in Houston, is evacuating patients. Models are now predicting a total of 60 inches being dumped in some places. I grew up in Sugar Land (Southwest side) and I understand that homes are flooding there. Where is an ark when we need it?
